History & Milestones

Merchants started operations in the United Kingdom in 1981 as the first private UK telemarketing company.  We published the first Global Contact Centre Benchmarking Report in 1997, the same year we were acquired by Dimension Data.  

We are the pioneers in creating and developing South Africa as an offshore destination of choice and have designed built and operated contact centres in partnership with blue chip clients around the world in our almost 35 years of operation.​
